Regional Non-Emergency Transportation Project

The South West Local Health Integration Network hospitals are provided an opportunity to  provide high quality, reliable non-emergent transportation (NET) services to patients through:

  • The development of non-emergent transportation and vehicle standards on a South West LHIN-wide basis.
  • Standardized decision-making criteria for use by staff so they select the most appropriate vehicle for patient transportation.
  • Application of standardized hospital-based clinical standards and policies to NET services.
  • The development of governance and management responsibilities for the NET services contract(s) including the application of clinical standards, as well as the on-going application of standardized decision-making criteria by hospital staff.

This provides single contracts with individualized response times, consistent billing practices, consistent clinical and vehicle standards, a patient information pamphlet and staff and physician learning tools.
