New Chief Clinical Lead tasked with advancing high-quality, coordinated health care

London, ON – Dr. Cathy Faulds has been named Chief Clinical Lead in the South West LHIN. In her new role she will be working collaboratively with other system partners to develop a more integrated, patient-focused health care system.

As Chief Clinical Lead, Dr. Faulds will be providing clinical leadership and strategic direction to advance engagement among partners, clinical standards implementation, patient safety and quality improvement. She will be leading and coordinating a team of LHIN primary care and specialty clinical leaders to improve clinical coordination and achieve quality improvement within LHIN sub-regions.

Dr. Faulds’ role is in part enabled through a partnership between the South West LHIN and Health Quality Ontario (HQO) aimed at improving clinical quality in a coordinated and impactful way across the province for patients and their families. Within this work, Dr. Faulds will contribute to the broader provincial quality agenda, highlighting important quality issues in provincial forums, participating in programs such as the HQO Quality Standards, and informing provincial direction and supporting implementation within the South West LHIN.

Dr. Cathy Faulds brings 30 years of experience in comprehensive family medicine working in various models of care including hospital and long-term care. Dr. Faulds also provides expertise in palliative care, and has led the development of a 20-bed palliative care unit at Parkwood Hospital. In addition, during the course of her career, she served as President Elect, President and Past President of the Ontario College of Family Physicians. She also served on the Board of Directors for the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the London Family Health Team.
Dr. Faulds currently serves as Adjunct Scientist and Professor at the Lawson Health Research Institute and University of Western Ontario. She has received many awards including the Bright Light Award for Leadership in Governance from the Association of Family Teams of Ontario in 2016, and the Dean’s Award of Excellence from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry from Western University in 2014.
