South West LHIN 3rd Annual Quality Symposium in Stratford – June 7, 2013
The South West LHIN hosted its third annual Quality Symposium with a focus on the four strategic directions of the South West LHIN’s Integrated Health Service Plan 2013-2016. Presentations were made by Deputy Minister Saad Rafi, Steve Paikin host of TVO’s ‘The Agenda,’ Rick Glazier from the Institute of Clinical Evaluative Sciences, and Ted Ball from Quantum Transformation Technologies.
Physician Engagement Session in Owen Sound – May 29, 2013
The Ontario Medical Association along with the South West LHIN hosted a physician engagement session in Owen Sound to discuss, “Advancing Health Links in the South West LHIN.” Physicians had an opportunity to learn more about Health Links as an initiative, as well as ask important questions.
Aboriginal Engagement Session in Munsee – March 27, 2013
Gertie-Mai Muise, Aboriginal Health Lead at the South West LHIN, presented information about Aboriginal health in this part of the province.
Komoka Community Engagement Session – January 23, 2013
Engagement participants found out what programs and services are available for older adults and their families in West Middlesex. Presentations were made by Darren Miccalef from Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy and Tania Mulligan from VON Middlesex.
Mental Health Funding Announcement in London – January 10, 2013
Health Minister Deb Matthews was at WOTCH Community Mental Health Services to make an announcement about the targeted focus to invest in the mental health and addictions portion of the South West LHIN’s Community Sector Funding.
Community Sector Funding Announcement in London – November 27, 2012
Ontario’s Minister of Health, Deb Matthews, was at the Salvation Army Adult Day Program to announce additional support for community services and mental health and addictions agencies in the South West LHIN. Minister Matthews discussed the importance of investing funding towards in-home and community care services allowing more Ontarians to live independently and safely at home.
Owen Sound Community Engagement Session – November 28, 2012
Participants who attended this engagement session learnt about what programs and services are available for older people with challenging behaviours and their caregivers. Presenters included Charlotte Bumstead and Dr. Brendan Mulroy from Grey Bruce Health Services, Behavioural Supports Ontario Social Worker Laura Balletta, and Tracee Givvens of Elgin Abbey Long-Term Care Home.
Physician Engagement Sessions in London, Stratford, and Owen Sound – Fall 2012
The Ontario Medical Association and the South West LHIN recently co-hosted the sixth annual physician engagement sessions in London, Stratford, and Owen Sound. These sessions provided an opportunity to exchange information on South West LHIN initiatives including: Access to Care and Behavioural Supports Ontario, as well as gains made in Emergency Department wait times across the LHIN.

Goderich Community Engagement Session – September 26, 2012
Those who attended this engagement session had the opportunity to learn about how community-based health care providers are working together to bring better services to residents in the South West LHIN. Presentations included a discussion from John Robertson from the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth, an update from Cathy Ritsema from the Alzheimer Society of Huron County, a discussion by Anne Rollings from One Care, and Debbie Deichert from the Alzheimer Society of Perth County.
South West LHIN 2nd Annual Quality Symposium in Stratford – May 31, 2012
This event brought together a number of groups, organizations, and individuals involved in health care across the South West LHIN. The theme of the day was “Putting people at the centre of their care,” and featured presentations from Lynne Maher, Director of Innovation and Design at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement; Daniel Sands, Director of Healthcare and Medical Informatics at the Internet Business Solutions Group; and Patricia Moore, President of Moore Design Associates.
Woodstock Community Engagement Session – May 23, 2012
This engagement session provided an opportunity to hear more about community-based health care services that improve access to care and services for South West LHIN residents. Cate Melito from the Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre discussed access to primary care, chronic care and mental health and addictions, Pat Edwards from Woodstock General Hospital updated participants on supports available to individuals with responsive behaviours, and Donna Ladouceur from the South West Community Care Access Centre talked about coordinated access to rehabilitation and complex continuing care services.
South West LHIN Primary Care Forum in Stratford Ontario – May 16, 2012
This engagement brought together physicians, allied health professionals, and administrators involved in the Partnering for Quality in Chronic Disease Care Initiative. This event provided an opportunity to hear about some of the great primary care work being done in the South West including: high functioning teams, the new models of care, and the improvements being made in access.
